The Philippine Government
The Philippine government has established robust policies to safeguard the welfare and rights of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Central to this framework is the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), overseeing policy implementation. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) provides OFWs with welfare services, financial aid, and skills training, ensuring their well-being through health insurance, legal aid, and reintegration efforts. Overseas, the Migrant Workers Office, an arm of DMW in embassies, protects OFWs with legal assistance, advocacy for fair treatment, and efforts to enhance working conditions. These measures, supported by evolving legislation along with a network of government agencies, aim to uphold OFWs’ rights, and accord them the protection while working overseas and provide livelihood upon their return.
